Naoki Hirota has developed a label hourglass, placed in contact with the meat in the package. If meat is unfit for human consumption, they emit ammonia reacts with a non-toxic ink and label changes from white to blue.

Changing color, the bar code becomes unreadable. Unable to scan and therefore unmarketable. Even if the merchant fraud attempts, the reaction will be on a new label. Clever system that will prevent us from doing our shopping in doubt. via
